Exxaro and Transnet Freight Rail sign service agreement

Exxaro Resources Limited (Exxaro) and Transnet SOC Ltd (Transnet), acting through its Operating Division, Transnet Freight Rail (TFR), are pleased to announce that they have entered into a formal service agreement regarding performance in terms of the existing Long-Term Agreement between the parties. The agreement reached between Exxaro and Transnet is in the best interest of Transnet, Exxaro and South Africa. In terms of this agreement, Transnet and Exxaro will collaborate to improve the performance of its logistics channels, including to contribute to Exxaro’s Leeuwpan mine turnaround plan announced recently.

Exxaro Resources Limited (Exxaro) delivers a robust interim performance, underpinned by operational efficiency and marketing excellence, despite persistent global and domestic headwinds. The group reported an increase in revenue of 8% to R20.6 billion for the six-month period ended 30 June 2025 compared to R19 billion for the six-month period ended 30 June 2024 (1H24).

Exxaro delivers on guidance, achieving exceptional export performance, improves safety performance, and maintains superior shareholder returns

Exxaro’s performance for the 2024 financial year demonstrated resilience and continued operational excellence. Our net cash position increased to R16.3bn (excluding Energy’s net debt) by the end of 2024, compared to R14.8bn at the end of 2023. As such the Board resolved to embark on a share repurchase programme of R1.2 billion subject to the prevailing market conditions and JSE Listings Requirements. The Board approved a gross final cash dividend of R8.66 per share, for the year ended 31 December 2024. Additionally, the Board approved a R1.2 billion share repurchase programme, subject to prevailing market conditions and JSE Listings Requirements.

Appointment of Ben Magara as new chief executive officer of Exxaro

Following an expedited and targeted selection process, the board of directors of Exxaro (“Board”) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Bennetor (“Ben”) Magara as the incoming CEO, effective 1 April 2025. Black rhinos return to Zinave National Park in Mozambique

Seven critically endangered black rhino have been safely translocated from Manketti Game Reserve in South Africa to Zinave National Park in Mozambique. This follows the successful reintroduction of 19 white rhino to the park just two months earlier. The white rhinos have adjusted to their new home with ease and, remarkably, a new calf was born into the herd soon after their arrival. The same is hoped for the newly arrived black rhino brought there as part of a pioneering conservation project committed to restoring, securing, and expanding populations of both species. The initiative is the result of a partnership between the mining and renewable energy solutions company - Exxaro Resources, Peace Parks Foundation and Mozambique’s National Administration for Conservation

Rhino returns to Zinave National Park, Mozambique, after 40 years

The first 19 white rhinos have been successfully translocated from South Africa to Zinave National Park in Mozambique through the longest road-transfer of rhinos ever done. This landmark and pioneering rewilding initiative, the first in a series of white and black rhino translocations still to follow, is the result of a partnership between Mozambique’s National Administration for Conservation Areas (ANAC), Peace Parks Foundation and Exxaro Resources, in support of and in collaboration with the Governments of Mozambique and South Africa.
