Exxaro and Transnet Freight Rail sign service agreement

Exxaro Resources Limited (Exxaro) and Transnet SOC Ltd (Transnet), acting through its Operating Division, Transnet Freight Rail (TFR), are pleased to announce that they have entered into a formal service agreement regarding performance in terms of the existing Long-Term Agreement between the parties. The agreement reached between Exxaro and Transnet is in the best interest of Transnet, Exxaro and South Africa. In terms of this agreement, Transnet and Exxaro will collaborate to improve the performance of its logistics channels, including to contribute to Exxaro’s Leeuwpan mine turnaround plan announced recently.

Exxaro delivers on guidance, achieving exceptional export performance, improves safety performance, and maintains superior shareholder returns

Exxaro’s performance for the 2024 financial year demonstrated resilience and continued operational excellence. Our net cash position increased to R16.3bn (excluding Energy’s net debt) by the end of 2024, compared to R14.8bn at the end of 2023. As such the Board resolved to embark on a share repurchase programme of R1.2 billion subject to the prevailing market conditions and JSE Listings Requirements. The Board approved a gross final cash dividend of R8.66 per share, for the year ended 31 December 2024. Additionally, the Board approved a R1.2 billion share repurchase programme, subject to prevailing market conditions and JSE Listings Requirements.

Appointment of Ben Magara as new chief executive officer of Exxaro

Exxaro Belfast Coal sets up organic food garden to help Phumulani Agri Village community generate income

To help sustain the resettled community of Phumulani Agri Village in rural Mpumalanga, Exxaro Resources’ Belfast mine initiated an organic food garden project, which aims to empower the community with Agri-skills development, maintaining social capital, and creating avenues for income generation. The primary objective of the project includes creating sustainable decent small scale agriculture related jobs. The project will receive funding of more than R1.6-million from Exxaro’s Belfast digital and connected mine. Cennergi empowers AmaMfengu community with enterprise development and community upliftment projects

Tsitsikamma Wind Farm Trust (TWFT) hosted a ceremony on 20 April 2022 to hand over five key projects to the AmaMfengu community on behalf of the Tsitsikamma Community Wind Farm (TCWF) in Tsitsikamma, Eastern Cape as part of their drive to empower the local community. Exxaro launches the gender-based violence & femicide 100 day challenge

Exxaro Resources has launched the Gender Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF) 100-Day Challenge, alongside the Presidency and the Minerals Council of South Africa (MCSA). This campaign, which will run between April to June 2022, is meant to encourage employees and employers to create a safer environment for women in the workplace. Historic return of rhinos to Mozambique

The Governments of Mozambique and South Africa are pleased to announce the planned reintroduction of rhinos to Zinave National Park in 2022. Eastern Cape youth have the wind at their back with Cennergi bursary programme

Access to funding for tertiary education has always been a challenge for South African high school pupils from poor and working-class families. Exxaro Resources subsidiary, Cennergi Holdings, has established several bursary programmes and continuous community education initiatives. One of these initiatives, the Tsitsikamma Wind Farm Trust (TWFT) bursary programme, is proud to announce that its 23 bursary recipients have passed all of their subject modules. Exxaro, mohlaloga investment donate safety equipment to keep emakhazeni learners safe

Exxaro’s Belfast Digital and Connected Coal mining operation, in collaboration with Mohlaloga Investment Group recently donated Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to Emakhazeni Local Municipality for distribution to 17 schools to help keep learners safe. The donation included 225 litres of hand sanitiser; 650 litres of dilutable bleach; and 250 litres of hand soap to help schools to clean and disinfect surfaces and maintain hand hygiene. According to the World Health Organisation, cleaning and promoting hand hygiene are important everyday activities schools can take to slow the spread of COVID-19 and other infectious diseases and protect students and staff. Exxaro annual results for the financial year ending 31 december 2021

3 March 2022, Exxaro Resources Limited (Exxaro), the black empowered diversified resources group, reported a 46% increase in core EBITDA to R10 671 million (FY20: R7 291 million), and a 58% increase in core HEPS at R46.83 (FY20: R29.73) for the financial year ended 31 December 2021, a resilient performance despite the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and a distressed local economy. In addition, extensive logistical challenges substantially impacted export volumes, but, performance was sustained through significant increases in realised coal prices across all markets. Exxaro celebrates five-year fatality free milestone

Exemplifying the highest recognition for its practice of, and commitment to, occupational health and safety, Exxaro Resources today is proud to announce that it has achieved five years without any fatalities across its mining operations. “Earning this milestone validates our commitment to our rigorous safety requirements,” says Exxaro Executive Head for, Mongezi Veti. “Employee safety is woven into every aspect of our business conduct.” This remarkable milestone is anchored on the Mineral Council of South Africa’s (MCSA) Zero Harm initiative, which led to the launch of Exxaro’s Khetha Ukuphepa (translated as Choose to be Safe) campaign, which was launched in 2019. The campaign has created widespread safety awareness, led to a change in behaviour and increased vigilance.
